There are no trails in the Black Hills like the trail-like forest service roads of the My Favorite Ride, Elk Mountain Ride. It is framed by the results of a 2001, 21,000 acre forest fire that took most of the trees. But the trails are still there. And still there, is the wide open scenery!
You will probably ride in low most of the day, because the trails are just that technical. And, its 5662 feet to the base of the Elk Mountain Fire Tower.
The Dewey Ghost Town is found in this location.
Watch for Buffalo Jump, Historic Mining Equipment, Historic County School, and Old Cabin.
